Highland is a rarity in today’s moving world. We have been under the same family ownership for 70 years. Peter Kachur started a one truck cartage company in 1938 called Jim’s Express and Transfer. Since that time the Kachur family has expanded the company to be one of the most respected moving companies in Canada.
Today, Highland Moving is owned and operated by Don Kachur, the son of the company’s founder. Don is active in the day to day operations of the company as well as being deeply involved in industry affairs. He has served on the Board of Directors for both United Van Lines and the Canadian Association of Movers. Don's son Casey manages our Calgary branch and represents the third generation.
One thing that has remained unchanged over the generations is our service philosophy – one that encourages each employee to take personal pride in their work and celebrates outstanding customer service. As long as we maintain this tradition of pride in individual workmanship, our company will remain a quality service leader.
This philosophy of employee self-esteem has been formalized in our quality service program, “Moving with Pride”.
