Finding Cleaning Services

September 3rd, 2012 7:09 pm by

Once the dust has settled and you begin to transition into your new life, you will start to look for the services you need.  Finding cleaning services may be apart of those services you are seeking.  There are various options from small businesses to large commercial vendors.  The easiest way to start your search is to outline your requirements.  This will help you ask the questions and find the answers you need to make your decision.

Here are a few questions you may want to ask yourself:

What is my budget?

How often do I need cleaning services?

Does it matter to me whether or not I have the same cleaner every time?

Do I need additional services like linens, laundry and window cleaning?

Once you have answered these questions, you will be ready to short list your services and begin to interview the candidates.  You will want to do this at your home so they can see the extent of the job and give you a realistic estimate.  Keep in mind that most cleaners will give you a discount if you schedule your cleanings more often.

Whenever you bring someone into your home, you want to do your due diligence.  This is especially true of a cleaning service.  These people will be all over your home and will be interacting with your valuables.  Therefore, you have to have a level of trust.  Referrals are a great way to know who you hire.  Even if they have been referred to you, still check their references.  This will give you a better understanding of their experiences with other clients.  Further, you want to know the cleaners who will be cleaning your home.  Often times you will meet with the owner but not meet with the rest of the team.  You want to clarify with the owner, who will be cleaning and who will they use if someone is sick or leaves.

When you do your due diligence, check to see if they are licensed and bonded.  This is important to protect yourself and your belongings.  Taking these extra steps in the beginning will serve you well in the future.
