Highland Moving is proud of the social investment we make in our communities that we serve. Our culture of caring extends beyond our moving services and into our local communities around Alberta. By doing this it empowers our employees to get involved and give back to the communities we live in.
One of those charities that Highland Moving has been fortunate enough to be working with over the past few years is Stephen’s Backpacks Society. This local charity was created in 2006, by the McPhee’s, a local Airdrie family after their young son Stephen who himself was diagnosed with autism showed an interest in ending homelessness for children living on the streets. Stephen has become a voice for homeless children around Alberta.
Stephen’s Backpacks Society offers various programs including their annual campaign during the Christmas holidays that Highland Moving enjoys participating in. During the Christmas backpacks campaign, Stephen’s Backpacks collects donated backpacks full of Christmas gifts for children in need across Alberta. With these packs full around the province, Highland Moving’s moving crew has the opportunity to go to various locations to assist with the collection of the donated backpacks.
This past Christmas, Stephen’s Backpacks Society had collected almost 900 kits filled with towels, bedding, blankets and sheets which were all donated to displaced famalies in need.
