How Do I Move With an Infant?

Moving with an infant can be a challenge.  Keep in mind that the most important thing is to stay relaxed during the move.  Even your little one cannot say a word, he or she will feel your stress if you are overwhelmed.  There are many steps you can take ahead of time to reduce this stress.  There are many convenience items out there that I have used to make temporary living while in the midst of the move easier.  These include a microwave bag put out by Munchkin that allows you to sterilize bottles, spoons and pacifiers.  You simply add a little water to the microwave bag and add your items and in a few minutes, it is sterilized.

Pack and play is a great item to use for a crib and to keep the baby in one place.  Although most hotels have these, if you do not make arrangements ahead of time you may be out of luck.  So I suggest if it is possible, bring your own.  There are portable booster or high chairs available to help you feed your baby if that is something you need to do.  The good thing is that there are many choices of items that are portable, small and convenient, which make it perfect for relocating.

Another thing to keep in mind is the importance of keeping a copy of health records with you during a move.  You may want to consider a medical journal.  This is a great tool when moving because it will enable you to keep all of your medical information in one convenient location to help you in case your little one has a medical issue in the middle of the move.  Make sure to take note of your pediatrician and his or her contact information from your prior location.  This will help you in the event you need to contact him or her while you are moving.
