Making the Most of Your Limited Time When You Are Moving

While you are moving, your time is limited and making the most of it will help you tremendously.  There are ways you can make the most of your limited time.  Here are a few things to consider.

Once you know you are moving, consider drafting up a check list.  Keep in mind that this list is fluid and will continue to grow and change during the move.  Therefore, you want to have it in a central location so you are able to reference it anytime.  Your professionals here at Highland have put together a suggested list for your review.

Try to schedule your appointments in chunks of time.  This can be a challenge given all the appointments you need to make during the move.  However, if you can maximize these by bulking them together, it will allow you to be quite productive.

If you want to see all of your friends before you leave, consider having a party or meeting them at a restaurant.  This will allow you to maximize your time and visit with everyone at once.  Most will understand that you do not have the luxury of an hour lunch to visit.

Try to schedule a fun day at the park for your kids to visit and spend time with their friends before you leave.  This allows them to get their wiggles out and offer them a fun diversion during the busy time of a move.

When making calls to cancel or transfer services, set aside a special time to get it done.  Having multiple interruptions will make this task drag.  Therefore, try to consolidate it in an hour and get it done.

Make the most of your errands.  Take note ahead of time of all the things you must do at a particular place before you go.  For example, if you are going to your bank make sure you have your safety deposit key to empty out your box, bank account numbers and forwarding address so that you can make the most of your visit.  This will help keep you on task and prevent multiple trips to the same location.

Keep all of your important papers and documentation in one location.  This prevents you from wasting your time looking for these items several times over and prevents you from inadvertently packing them.

Moving can be time consuming but taking several steps to make the most of your time will help you be productive and less stressed.
