Moving Clothes – Tips for Packing Clothes

October 28th, 2013 4:31 pm by

Have you ever been so busy right before a move that you kind of forget about packing all your clothes until the very last minute? Then, because you’re running short on time, you end up leaving your clothes on hangers and throwing them in the back seat of your car or even worse – into garbage bags? Well, the following are some suggestions on a better way of packing your clothes for your upcoming move.

It is important to plan to pack your clothes with the same level of care as if you were packing your grandma’s fine china collection. It is worth the investment to purchase some wardrobe moving boxes. Wardrobe moving boxes are great for any clothes that you would like to stay on hangers, shoes or even hand bags. If you want to get started early on packing clothes, contact your local Highland Moving relocation consultant to purchase wardrobes boxes ahead of time. By doing so, you will be thankful when you are unpacking and all your clothes are wrinkle-free after the move.

The following guidelines are some additional tips for packing away your clothes:

  • Pack shoes into boxes not bags. By taking the time to pack shoes properly into boxes instead of bags, it can prevent stains and scratches on leather shoes.
  • Pack an overnight bag for each family member moving. By doing so, it will save you the time and stress of rummaging through numerous boxes looking for essentials such as a set of pajamas or toiletries.
  • Purge and/or donate. Your upcoming move is the perfect opportunity to get rid of unwanted clothing by either donating the unused articles to a local cause or disregarding them. By purging your closets ahead of the move, it may also bring down the financial cost of your move because there is less being transported.
  • Utilize empty suitcases. Empty travel luggage is perfect for packing away items such as handbags that are currently not in use because they lay well flat in suitcases.

Happy packing!
