What To Pack For The First Night

October 12th, 2016 8:51 pm by

Your move has just been completed and the movers have just left your new home. You are looking forward to spending the first night in your new home, but it is too late in the day to start unpacking. Plus, you’re exhausted!

At Highland Moving & Storage we recommend packing a “first night box” that has everything your family will need for a comfortable night in your new home. If you need some other items, you may need to pack a couple of boxes, but just make sure they are clearly labeled “FIRST NIGHT BOX”. Remember to remind the movers to keep an eye out for them as well.

Bedding

You will probably have multiple boxes of bedding packed from your linen closet, but to keep things simple pack a few complete bed sets together for the family in a first night box. Your movers will assemble your beds for you, so all you have to do is make them up and you are ready for a good first night’s sleep in your new home.

Towels & Toiletries

Moving day is tough and you will no doubt want to freshen up at the end of the day. Make sure you pack a towel for every family member and necessary toiletries so you do not have to go digging for them in other boxes.

Plates, Cups, Cutlery

If you’re not planning on pulling the “move in go-to” and ordering a pizza, pack some for each family member so you can enjoy dinner and breakfast the next day without unpacking an entire china barrel of kitchenware.

Coffee Pot & Coffee

Absolutely necessary for the next morning as you will have a long day of unpacking and putting things away.

Wifi Box, Cell Phone Chargers, Laptops, Tablets

Face it, we all need the internet! You might not have your home services set up yet but if you do get your Wifi box plugged in. This is a great way to keep the kids entertained as well as they can watch movies or play games on a laptop/tablet. It is also essential to have a charger handy to keep your cell phone up and running.
